Photo: Nunavut MLA demands GN deal with workplace unrest

Iqaluit MLA Pat Angnakak tells fellow legislators in Iqaluit Oct. 22 that she’s been both “surprised and disturbed” by the number of Government of Nunavut employees who’ve complained to her about unresolved workplace issues. “It is clear to me that the structure and system that we have in place for resolving workplace conflict and employee grievances simply isn’t working well,” she said in her member’s statement at the Legislative Assembly. Angnakak said MLAs should think hard about whether dissolving the Human Resources department a few years ago, and folding it into the Finance department, has helped to make workplace relations at the GN better, or worse.
