Natan Obed, president of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, shares a smile with Nunavut Sivuniksavut students at a meet-the-president event attended by an invited audience of MPs, diplomats, Hill staffers and Ottawa Inuit inside a Senate meeting room on Parliament Hill Nov. 26. Obed, in a short speech, said Inuit want a new relationship with the Crown, though not necessarily a “nation-to-nation” relationship. “We’re Canadians,” Obed said.
