Nunavut RCMP are investigating a suspicious death in Baker Lake.

The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit was called in over the weekend after the April 2 death of 45-year-old George Narkyagik, said an RCMP news release issued Saturday.

Officers responded shortly after 5 a.m. on April 2 to a call about an unresponsive male, said the release. He was taken to the local health centre, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have deemed the death suspicious. The release did not indicate a cause of death.

Investigators are asking anyone in the community who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the area of building 2073 between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. that morning to contact Baker Lake RCMP.
