It’s still Toonik Tyme in Iqaluit, at least for two events.

A fishing derby and outdoor games will be held Saturday at Imiqtarviminiq Lake in Iqaluit.

Originally scheduled for April 19, members of the non-profit 123Go! host organization rescheduled both events due to cold and windy weather during the annual April festival.

The new times and date were posted to the Toonik Tyme Facebook page on Thursday afternoon.

Registration for the fishing derby is scheduled to start on site Saturday at 10 a.m. and final measurements are planned to be recorded at 3 p.m.

The outdoor games begin at 1 p.m.

The regular schedule for this year’s Toonik Tyme ran from April 10 to 19.

Imiqtarviminiq Lake takes its name from the Inuktitut term for “former place to get water.” The lake served as the municipal water supply in the 1950s and 1960s.
