RCMP seek help identifying person of interest in Iqaluit fire

Police share photo of a person holding a jerry can near the West 40 area

The RCMP in Iqaluit released a photo of a person of interest in a suspected arson in Iqaluit.

On June 25, police responded to a report of a shack fire in the West 40 area, which they suspect is an arson.

Police said in a July 6 news release that they obtained a photo of a person who was near the area at the time of the fire. The pictures shows somone holding what appears to be a a jerry can. The person may have important information about the investigation, the news release said.

Police asked anyone who can identify the person in the picture to call the Iqaluit RCMP at 867-975-0123 or to provide information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
