Food, walking and socializing on the menu for Iqaluit event

Residents in Iqaluit can explore the land, take part in activities and share a meal with their neighbours during Carrefour Nunavut’s annual Food Walk.
The free community event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Sylvia Grinnell Park Pavilion, with the walk beginning at 10 a.m., a news release said.
It will feature a guided tundra walk led by a local expert, along with sports activities and supervised games for participants.
The day will wrap up with a barbecue, according to the release.
Carrefour Nunavut, an economic development agency that promotes the business interests of French speakers in the Arctic, said the event encourages physical activity and community connection.
“It is an event for everyone and fully reflects our mission: bringing the community together, encouraging connections, and showcasing our environment in a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere,” Francis Essebou, executive director of Carrefour Nunavut, said in the news release.
