Photo: Iqaluit sees big snow June 3

A big dump of wet clinging snow began falling on Iqaluit around 3:00 a.m. June 3, covering roads, buildings and vehicles. It also helped re-open numerous ruts and potholes that city road crews managed to repair during a dry spell over the past week. Environment Canada reported that by late afternoon, 25 centimetres of snow, likely a record amount, had fallen on Iqaluit. The previous record for greatest snowfall June 3, 10 cm, was set in 1989.
