Junior Angutinguak from Aupaluk competes in the snowsnake event Nov. 23 outside of Kuujjuaq's Katittavik town hall, where Arctic Winter Games trials are taking place this weekend. The snowsnake is a traditional Dene game where the athlete has to throw a spear-like stick so it slides as far as possible along the snow. Trials were expected to continue Nov. 24 despite a blizzard moving through the region. The top athletes from this weekend's events will be selected to compete for Team Nunavik-Québec at the 2014 AWG in Fairbanks, Alaska. (PHOTO BY ISABELLE DUBOIS)
