Local man charged with drug possession for purposes of trafficking

RCMP arrested a Hall Beach man this week after local police seized marijuana, cash and other drug paraphernalia from a residence in the community Jan. 24.

Hall Beach resident Philip Siakuluk has been charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

That’s after RCMP executed a search warrant of a residence and uncovered more than 18 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of $1,134, $260 in cash and other items related to the sale of marijuana.

Siakuluk has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Nunavut Court of Justice in Hall Beach Mar. 8.

The RCMP encourages anyone with information about the trafficking of illegal drugs or alcohol to contact their local detachment or call Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477(TIPS).
