High-speed is now faster in Iqaluit: Northwestel
“This upgrade is in response to Iqaluit customer demand”
Northwestel said late March 1 that it had successfully completed an Internet bandwidth expansion in Iqaluit.
This upgrade provides additional satellite capacity for ADSL-based broadband services in the community, Northwestel said.
“This upgrade is in response to Iqaluit customer demand. Northwestel is committed to meeting our customer needs in Iqaluit,” said Paul Flaherty, President and chief executive officer of Northwestel in a company news release. “We continue to look for innovative ways to expand broadband capability in Nunavut.”
The project, which took more than six weeks to complete, adds satellite capacity during peak times of Internet use, the company said.
Northwestel’s high-speed customers in Iqaluit should notice a 20 per cent increase in bandwidth.
“Iqaluit DSL Customers will notice speed improvements immediately, particularly customers who use internet at peak times during evenings,” the news release said.
