Iqaluit council approves Upper Base road repairs

Iqaluit City Council on Aug, 24 approved a $167,000 contract to realign a treacherous section of the Upper Base Road near its intersection with the Plateau access road.

“A sharp and steep downhill turn” on one of the road’s switchbacks will be realigned and resurfaced. A second phase will see the installation of guard rails and concrete barriers and will go out to tender next year.

Kudlik Construction won the contract for the first phase and was to start work on the project before the end of August.
