Aug. 25: a day of celebration in Cambridge Bay. For the first time in many years, narwhals returned to the community. Gilbert Moses Panioyak Tikhak landed two whales – the first in his life, with the help of experienced elders and hunters.

Gilbert Moses Panioyak Tikhak landed two whales – the first in his life, with the help of experienced elders and hunters. “I am so happy right now,” Tikhak says. Hoopa Goose and Alex Buchan also each landed a narwhal.
