Photo: Diabetes on the rise in Nunavut

On Nov. 14, World Diabetes Day, consider the sobering statistics about the increasing prevalence of diabetes in Nunavut. This graph from the 2011 Nunavut Report on Comparative Health indicators shows that between 2003 and 2008 the rate of diabetes among the territory’s residents more than doubled, from 1.2 per cent of the population to 2.5 per cent of the population.
