Mental health advocacy reaches out to Nunavik

Organization offers telephone support in English

By SARAH ROGERS

A Quebec mental health advocacy organization is reaching out to the province’s more remote communities.

The organization is now offering English-language telephone support services to those struggling with mental illness and their caregivers.

The groups are designed to reach caregivers living in regions where English services are not readily available and to help them better cope with loved ones living with mental illness.

“Anyone who is living outside of Montreal can access the workshops,” Moskovici said. “People living in remote areas should still have access to professional help,” said Blanche Moskovici, a counsellor with AMI-Quebec counsellor.

Participants need only provide a name, Moskovici said, but it can be a fictitious one.

Upcoming workshops:

March 17, 2010, 7:00 to 8:15 pm

To register for a tele-workshop or tele-support group call 1-866-396-2433 or visit www.careringvoice.com.
