Nunavut child care centres to get more money
Daycares get 10 per cent bump in funding
Child care centres in Nunavut will see more money this year.
Nunavut’s Department of Education is increasing funding for the territory’s licenced child care facilities by $550,000, effective April 1, Education Minister Louis Tapardjuk said March 18 in the Nunavut legislature.
“This money will ensure that these daycares will see an increase of at least 10 per cent to their operations and maintenance program contributions funding in the next fiscal year,” Tapardjuk said.
As well, $200,000 will be available for early childhood education courses for childcare workers.
