The Abitibi-James Bay-Nunavik-Eeyou riding, long held by the NDP, went in a surprising direction on Monday night, electing Sylvie Bérubé of the Bloc Québécois with 38 per cent of the vote. Bérubé, centre, is pictured here prior to election night with Bloc leader Yves-François Blanchet (right) and neighbouring Bloc Québécois MP Sébastien Lemire, who took Abitibi-Témiscamingue. I think mainly French people voted Block Quebecois!
We Inuit considers as Canadians, we will not get forced to speak French because English is our second priority language, because our Ancestors were taught by English people way beginning when they entered North.
But then again, we Inuit will carry on using our Mother tongue language!
There are many racism in North French VS Inuit!
Enough is enough, if your Quebecor Employees cleans their act towards us, we would be cooperative with kindness, go visit North and go watch how we’re treated by your French fellows working in North!
Never seen this lady step foot in Nunavik nor did hear her campaign speech. Would be nice to see if Nunavik got its own riding. And, would also be interesting to see the results of who the Nunavimmiut voted for.
I definitely agree with Kuge, never seen these faces either.
Why? only after elections?
We didn’t see them traveling to each communities, you’re facing 14 villages, they never came to campaign to get elected!
I also wants to see the Federal election results from Nunavik only!
We are the voters too, as Canadians, we are high tax payers of the North for both Quebec & Federal Revenue! paying high costs food, high coast over all payers.
I will not tolerate to get run over my Canadian Charter’s of Rights & Freedom and as Human Rights!
