Take a cup of kindness
The Northern Shopper, an online grocery story that supplies the Baffin region with groceries subsidized by Nutrition North Canada, has donated 3,000 washable and re-usable eco-friendly menstrual cups to women and girls in Nunavut. A single silicone cup can be re-used for up to 10 years, saving many hundreds of dollars in tampon purchases, and creating less waste for landfill sites. Kit MacKinnon, the founder of The Northern Shopper, said staff at the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Health are now ready to implement an outreach program so women and girls throughout the territory understand how to safely use and maintain the product. This reminds me of the whole re-usable diaper dillema. Yes “pampers” are expensive up here and yes, using reusable diapers would save parents a ton of money; but at the end of the day, these items are an invonvenience. Most people have no interest in reusing diapers or tampons.
So a cheaper more eco friendly option should not be considered because it inconveniences you?
Awesome gifts. The cups are easy to use after a few tries to get used to them and no leaks provided you get yourself the right size. I have been using one of these for many years and have never had any problems with them. Never have to worry about the extra expense of pads or tampons and you never run out of course like you would with paper products. Saves the landfills too. Washable diapers would be wise for people too. The quality these days is very good and saves a ton of money.
A cup of kindness. Seriously?
