Iqaluit nurse charged with sexual assault pleads guilty
Man to be sentenced March 21
A nurse charged with sexually assaulting a patient while working at the Qikiqtani General Hospital pleaded guilty in an Iqaluit courtroom March 9.
Raymond Labrecque didn’t appear in court, but his lawyer Michael Chandler entered the guilty plea on his behalf.
He’s due to be sentenced in the Nunavut Court of Justice March 21. Chandler told court Labrecque would appear in court on that date.
Labrecque was suspended by the Department of Health and Social Services when the charge was filed.
He no longer works in Nunavut’s health care system, although the department won’t say if he quit or was fired, citing confidentiality guidelines.
