Photo: Pond Inlet hunters get their bowhead

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Hunters in Pond Inlet harvested a 42-foot bowhead whale earlier this week, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. said in an Aug. 9 news release. Hunters took the whale on the third day of their hunt, about 150 kilometres west of Pond Inlet in Nadlua, or Navy Board Inlet. This was the first of three bowhead whale hunts slated for Nunavut this summer. The other two will be held in Kugaaruk and Repulse Bay. (PHOTO COURTESY NTI, BY GLENN WILLIAMS)
