160 more posts on the way

Iqaluit council agreed this past Tuesday to spend $84,570 to buy 160 new wooden posts to run from the four corners to the new justice building and the legislative building, and from Iqaluit Square to White Row.

That cost will also include 65 new parking posts for the area beside the post office building.

Money for the new posts comes out of a $430,000 budget earmarked for the project.

During the council meeting this past Tuesday, chief administrative officer Ian Fremantle offered an update on concerns about emergency vehicles not being able to manoeuver around the posts.

“I haven’t had any calls about it, and if there were concerns, I would have,” Fremantle said.
