Man arrested after shots fired in Igloolik

An Igloolik man is in custody after gunshots were fired in Igloolik May 14.

Police responded to reports of a distraught man brandishing a loaded gun and arrested Steven Akittirq, 21.

It wasn’t immediately clear where the shots were fired, but police didn’t report any injuries in connection with the incident.

Akittirq is now in custody facing charges of careless use of a firearm and failure to comply with a probation order.
