RCMP call assault on Queen Elizabeth Way ‘senseless, unprovoked attack’
Iqaluit RCMP are looking for two suspects after a 33-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in a “senseless, unprovoked attack” Thursday.
Police responded to a report of a stabbing outside the Arctic Ventures store on Queen Elizabeth Way shortly before 8:30 p.m., an RCMP news release issued Friday said.
The victim was approached by two unknown men. Following a brief conversation, he was stabbed multiple times and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial indications are that the victim was unfamiliar with the suspects and this was a senseless, unprovoked attack,” Const. David Mills said in the release.
Police obtained closed-circuit camera images of the suspects and have asked for the public’s help to identify them.
The RCMP asks anyone with information to contact investigators at 867-979-1111.

There were 3 pictures in the release. Show them all. Goodness.
Iqaluit is a brutish and endlessly violent place in which to raise a family.
It doesn’t help when other communities drop their unwanted here, most of these crimes are committed from ones that are brought here or stay here after being released.
Yes. That has long been an issue but today is different. The real accelerant of the dumpster fire that Iqaluit has become is the beer and wine store. Free and easy access to alcohol has attracted hundreds of dysfunctional whack-jobs from communities all over Nunavut. Add to this the GNs failure to have anything in place to mitigate the impact of the store’s opening and you have the resulting mayhem we are all forced to live with.
So what was the conversation about? That probably would give clues as to who they were and what their beef was. A description of both the perps (the photo is not great) and the victim would also help in promoting public safety, since these guys are still at large. Future targets might like to know if they are being profiled for an attack.
