Man shot and killed in Cape Dorset, police say

A man has been shot and killed in Cape Dorset, and another person stabbed.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Jimmy Akavak said few details were available late Sept. 20. He said Cape Dorset RCMP busy working with Nunavut’s major crimes unit investigating the matter.

“They’re run off their feet right now,” he said.

Police were alerted and found the body in the morning of Sept. 20, according to a press release.

Police have not revealed any names, and Akavak said police would provide an update when more information is available.

Akavak said the shooting is being treated as a suspicious death.

Police are asking the public for information on the case.
