Cape Dorset man charged with murder
A Cape Dorset man faces a charge of second-degree murder in connection with a string violent events Sept. 20.
Peter Kingwatsiak, 18, will appear in Iqaluit’s courthouse on Sept. 23 to face charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, break and enter and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Kingwatsiak’s stepbrother Mappaluk Adla was found shot to death Sept. 20.
RCMP have not revealed the name of the second victim who survived a separate attack, saying the man fears for his life if he’s identified.
Nunavut’s serious crimes unit was flown in from Iqaluit to investigate.
RCMP are asking the public for information about the case.
