Three men who escaped police custody in Salluit over the weekend have been located and arrested, says Nunavik Police Service deputy Chief Shaun Longstreet.
The three broke out of jail early Friday morning apparently after using a shoelace to open the latch on their cell doors, according to a report by CBC on Friday.
One of the men was captured Friday evening and a second on Saturday morning. The third man was arrested Sunday night, the report said.
The men will appear in court to face new charges, Longstreet confirmed in an email to Nunatsiaq News, though he did not provide a date.
A Nunavik Police Service spokesperson was not available Monday to provide further information. Police have not said why the three men were being held in custody at the time of their escape.

Where were they planning on escaping to? Were they going to walk to Montreal? Is this a case of brain damage or just plain stupidity?
They need not walk to Montreal, free flight will be arranged. No reservations needed airline or hotel.

Alcohol is the main source for sure, Nunavik needs healing today along with the politician, even most of the current Mayors are in addiction and cannot see that they need healing, Alcohol is a silent killer and destroyer of lives and many Nunavimiut fail to see this including the leaders, KRG president needs also needs to see her alcoholism and start to lead a sober life, many of the politicians think that drinking is enjoyment for life, but actually fail to see its the opposite effect.
Really? They’re bringing additional charges against the three escape artists?
They should bring charges against the cops for letting this happen in the first place. What a joke!
