Kugluktuk’s elementary school hosted two “kitchen table conversations” sessions this past week where participants discussed how to increase Inuinnaqtun in schools and in the community. Over tea and snacks, elders, parents, students and community members offered up their suggestions, such as bringing elders into the classroom on a regular basis, holding Inuinnaqtun year-round for everyone in the community, and organizing language-based programs for young parents and their children.
