Six children between the ages of 11 and 15 were arrested this week in connection to a break-and-enter at Cambridge Bay’s Canada Post office.

RCMP said in a news release Thursday they responded to a complaint from the local postmaster at approximately 2 a.m. Wednesday. The postmaster reported the post office’s surveillance system had been triggered and there were people inside the building.

Officers arrested the six individuals and took them into custody.

Two of the children, both under 12 years old, were warned and released to their parents or guardians without charges, the release said.

The remaining four teens, aged 13 to 15, have been charged with several offences including breaking and entering, theft and mischief under $5,000.

They were also charged with possession of an instrument used to break in, as well as “property obtained by crime,” the release said.

Hooray! Bunch of delinquents roaming around causing damage, about time they were given more than a warning.

the kids AND their parents/guardians should have to do community service. The amount of time for community service should be the cost of damage and theft repayment at a rate of minimum wage.
At $5000 / $19 per hour = 263 hrs of work for them. The 6 kids +parents is 18 people doing the community service= each one responsible for 15 hours of community service. might be more for the parents if any of the kids are siblings.

Going to have to disagree with this comment. They are very good at responding at all hours of the night to the welfare housing across the street.
