The Kativik Ilisarniliriniq school board has a new executive committee following a vote of the board’s commissioners on Monday.

The council of commissioners of the Nunavik school board selected five of its members to join the executive committee, Kativik Ilisarniliriniq spokesperson Jade Duchesneau-Bernier said Monday.

Sarah Aloupa of Quaqtaq was re-elected to serve another term as president; Patsy Cameron of Salluit will serve as vice-president; Eva Kauki Gordon of Kuujjuaq and Martin Scott of Aupaluk are executive committee members; and the Kativik Regional Government representative will be Jennifer Hunter of Kuujjuaraapik.

The school board announced in November that members of the council of commissioners of Kativik Ilisarniliriniq had been elected.

The council is holding its first meeting this week in Montreal from Dec. 4 to 7.

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq provides educational services to all Nunavik residents in Inuktitut as first language and in French and English as second languages. It operates 18 primary and secondary schools and six adult education centres across the region.
