Nunavut Tunngavik announces advance poll Dec. 1

If you want to cast your ballot early in the election to choose a new vice president for Nunavut Tunngavik Inc., you can do so on Dec. 1 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. local time.

Two men and one woman are running for NTI’s second-in-charge position: Douglas Aggark of Chesterfield Inlet, incumbent James Eetoolook from Taloyoak and Jesse Mike from Iqaluit.

Voting day for those not casting ballots in the advance poll is Dec. 8. Polls will open that day 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., local time.

Voters can also vote by mobile poll, proxy vote or mail-in ballot. You can find out exactly where to vote on Dec. 8 and other details of the election by going to NTI’s website.

In order to vote, Inuit must be Canadian citizens, at least 16 years old and be an enrolled beneficiary of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. You can vote in any of Nunavut’s 25 communities as well as in Yellowknife, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Ottawa.
