Airline objects to story

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

While returning from the North on a First Air flight this week, I asked the flight attendant, as I usually do, for a copy of Nunatsiaq News. I was shocked to be told that Nunatsiaq News was not being carried on First Air this week because there was an article in it uncomplimentary to First Air.

How petty! How annoying! How childish!

Perhaps more than any other individual in Iqaluit over the past year, I certainly know what it is like to be criticized in news items in the local newspaper. I personally don’t like it, either. But the public does have a right to know. And when critical or controversial articles appear, the public can still find the newspaper on sale at Arctic Ventures.

Add censorship to First Air’s list of accomplishments in the Eastern Arctic.
