An act of kindness for a grieving son
To the kind lady in Iqaluit: Thank you for your warm and timely assistance on Monday, Aug 29, when the power was out in much of the town.
My family was flying from Ottawa to Yellowknife and we had a four-hour stop in Iqaluit. My three-month-old son had run out of diapers on the flight to Iqaluit — you always have two fewer diapers than you need.
We were not able to buy any more since everything near the airport was closed due to the power outage.
A lady overheard me asking the Northmart staff if they could sell me some diapers, even thought the tills were out.
She said, “I have some diapers at home from the last time my family visited. Come with me and I will give them to you.”
She then drove me to her house, gave me the diapers, and drove me back to the store.
It was a great help at a difficult time. Ute Merritt, one of the flight attendants on First Air flight 6560 was my mother.
