Armed stand-off in CamBay ends “without incident”
RCMP negotiate “peaceful resolution to the situation”
An early morning stand-off between police and an armed man in Cambridge Bay has ended peacefully.
Vehicles belonging to the hamlet and bylaw office in Cambridge Bay blocked off an area of Okpik St. on April 11, after the RCMP detachment received a complaint of “an emotionally disturbed male with a firearm” inside a local residence shortly before 4:30 a.m., an April 11 statement from the RCMP said.
Police in Cambridge Bay set up a containment perimeter the residence “in an attempt to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the situation,” police said.
“The subject of the complaint has now been taken into custody without incident,” police said at 11 a.m..
