A Jan. 12 stand-off with an armed man in Kugluktuk ended without incident, says the RCMP in Nunavut.
Members of the RCMP detachment in that Kitikmeot community received a “high-risk call” about 5:30 p.m. involving a man with a firearm, RCMP spokesperson Malcolm MacNeil said.
Police did not give details about the stand-off, but said only that it was resolved within a few hours without incident.
RCMP have not made any arrests while police continue to investigate what happened, MacNeil said.
Some in Kugluktuk reported that the community of 1,500 remained under lock-down for the duration of the stand-off, with the use of sirens to inform residents.
But the RCMP said the stand-off was confined to a local residence.
