Baffin Inuit body looking for board members

QIA hoping to fill seven positions on boards and committees

The Qikiqtani Inuit Association is looking for a few good men and women.

A recent news release from Baffin’s regional Inuit organization says the organization wants to fill seven positions on various boards and committees, all of these positions for a period of three years.

Vacancies are as follows:

• Nunavut Trust board;

• Nunavut Planning Commission;

• Qikiqtaaluk Corp.;

• Kakivak Association, member-at-large (two positions;)

• QIA Social and Cultural Committee, woman’s representative; and,

• QIA Social and Cultural Committee, men’s representative.

The QIA news release says they are looking for “energetic and dynamic individuals,” and that candidates must be “actively and personally committed to represent the interests of beneficiaries of the Baffin region as well as a sound understanding of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.”

As well, the QIA has implemented an “open and accountable process for considering qualified beneficiaries,” the release said. A criminal records check may be required.

Interested candidates are encouraged to send a detailed resume, in Inuktitut and English, demonstrating skills and experience to Joanasie Kanayuk at the QIA.
