Baker Lake man found three days after being reported missing
Hunter was cold, hungry, but otherwise in good health
A Baker Lake hunter has been found alive and well three days after he left the community by snowmobile.
Kyle Netser set out Nov. 18 alone, headed towards the White Hills area. When he didn’t return later that day, a search and rescue crew went out looking for him.
The Royal Canadian Air Force also deployed two Hercules aircraft from Winnipeg to assist with the search; one Nov. 19 and a second Nov. 20.
But it was a ground crew that finally found Netser at about 8:00 p.m. Nov. 20 at a emergency shelter on the shore of Schulz Lake, the RCMP said.
Netser, in his twenties, suffered from some weather exposure and has not eaten in two days.
But otherwise, RCMP said he was found in good condition.
This week temperatures in the region have hovered around -30 C, with clear skies.
