Nunavut cops grab booze, cocaine during weekend bust
Two Iqaluit residents face trafficking charges
Members of the Nunavut RCMP seized 28 grams of cocaine and 26 1.175-litre bottles of liquor in Iqaluit Feb. 27, said a Feb. 29 news release from the RCMP.
Police said they arrested three Iqaluit residents on Feb. 27 in connection with the seized cocaine: a 42-year-old woman, a 31-year-old man and a 21-year-old man.
The two older suspects each face one charge of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and one charge of trafficking a controlled substance, police said.
Police said the 21-year-old man has been charged with one count of possessing a controlled substance.
All three are scheduled to appear in court this April, the release said.
In a separate incident, police said a search warrant led to the seizure of $2,000 in cash, 26 bottles of liquor and the arrest of an Iqaluit man on Feb. 27.
Police did not say if any charges had been laid against the man in that case, but they did say the matter is still under investigation.
The RCMP did not identify any of the three accused persons.
