Searchers from the western Nunavut community of Kugluktuk are still combing an area around their community in an effort to find Alan Kudlak, a hunter who was reported overdue Aug. 12, the RCMP said Aug. 15.
Seventeen ATVs, a boat and a helicopter are now involved in the search.
Kudlak, whose age is not given, had left home Aug. 11 on an ATV. But when he was last seen, he was carrying only a rifle and no other supplies, the RCMP said in their release.
“Kudlak is believed to be an outdoor enthusiast and knows the land well,” the RCMP said.
On Saturday, Aug. 13, searchers found the missing hunter’s ATV about 10 kilometres from Kugluktuk — but have not yet found Kudlak.
RCMP said, as of Aug. 15, that the search continues and that they will provide new information when it emerges.
