Cape Dorset man wounded by shotgun blast
Accused shooter to appear in court Aug. 20
A Cape Dorset man has been treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being wounded in the back with a shotgun around 2 a.m. June 27.
The man suffered a number of wounds, which appeared to RCMP to have been caused by bird-shot, an RCMP news release said.
The man was taken to the Cape Dorset Health Centre where he was treated and released.
After receiving a complaint about the shooting, RCMP went to a local residence.
Ottokie Qimirpik of Cape Dorset is charged with discharging a firearm with intent, aggravated assault, and mischief.
He is ordered by a justice of the peace to appear in court Aug. 20 in the community.
