A Cape Dorset man has been treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being wounded in the back with a shotgun around 2 a.m. June 27.

The man suffered a number of wounds, which appeared to RCMP to have been caused by bird-shot, an RCMP news release said.

The man was taken to the Cape Dorset Health Centre where he was treated and released.

After receiving a complaint about the shooting, RCMP went to a local residence.

Ottokie Qimirpik of Cape Dorset is charged with discharging a firearm with intent, aggravated assault, and mischief.
