Copter company starts full-time in Iqaluit
Yellowknife-based Trinity Helicopters expands Baffin operation
Trinity Helicopters has started full-time operations in Iqaluit.
The new base will provide “faster response, better access, and lower costs for helicopter services in Nunavut,” the company promised in a Dec. 19 news release.
Trinity Helicopters began operations in the Baffin region in May 2011.
Then, in September, Trinity began leasing space in the Keewatin Air hangar in Iqaluit.
That additional hangar space has allowed Trinity Helicopters to make the transition from a support base to a fully operational one, the company said.
“The move supports Trinity Helicopter’s plan to operate full time across all three territories,” it said.
Trinity, which is based in Yellowknife, wants to begin full-time operations in Cambridge Bay by January 2012 to support its partner, Qillaq Innovations.
“As a northern company, we’re committed to providing full service to all the territories,” says Rob Carroll, president of Trinity Helicopters, in the release. “The new base in Iqaluit, along with our planned full-time operation in Cambridge Bay, gives us the ability to respond even more quickly to our clients’ needs within Nunavut.”
Carroll said the company is also committed to “hiring and training a truly northern workforce and becoming a part of the community.”
