Coral Harbour man drowns near Cape Dorset
Death “not suspicious,” police say
A young man from Coral Harbour, Trevor Gilmore Nakoolak, 20, drowned Aug. 4 while attempting to swim across a small lake outside of Cape Dorset, the Nunavut RCMP said Aug. 6.
Poliice said that during his swim, Nakoolak sank under the surface and did not resurface.
RCMP members who responded to the incident used a kayak to recover the man, who was pronounced dead immediately.
Police said they have notified the office of the chief coroner and that the death has been ruled “not suspicious.”
