David Omilgoitok takes reins of development corporation
David Omilgoitok, 53, will serve as the next president and CEO of the Kitikmeot Corp., the company said Jan. 23 in a news release.
“I am pleased to be joining a very dynamic and exciting organization that works for the benefit of Inuit,” Omilgoitok said.
Omilgoitok worked about 10 years for the Government of Nunavut, serving in various senior positions, including deputy minister of human resources and deputy minister of intergovernmental affairs.
He also worked as a senior advisor with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development in Cambridge Bay.
The Kitikmeot Corp. is the business arm of the Kitikmeot Inuit Association, with investments in construction, transportation, real estate and other enterprises.
Omilgoitok succeeds Charlie Lyall, who left the position last year.
