First Air adds second Monday, Friday flights between Iqaluit and Ottawa
Change allows for same-day travel between Yellowknife and Ottawa
First Air plans to double the number of its flights between Iqaluit and Ottawa on Mondays and Fridays, starting Sept. 16.
The change comes with the addition of a 737-400 to its fleet, First Air announced Aug. 21.
In addition to its current 7F860/861 flights, new flights will operate as follows — with a flight Mondays and Fridays departing Ottawa at 12:45 p.m., with a 3:55 p.m. arrival in Iqaluit.
The return flight will leave Iqaluit at 4:55 p.m. and arrive in Ottawa at 8 p.m..
With this change, travellers will have same-day connections from Yellowknife and the Kivalliq region to Ottawa, First Air said.
This past summer, First Air has also offered two flights on Thursdays and Sundays between Montreal and Kuujjuaq.
