Get ready Iqaluit: it’s time to clean out and clean up
Public works will remove unwanted household items June 17-28

As part of annual spring cleanup efforts this year, the City of Iqaluit is offering to pick up and dispose of unwanted household items for a two-week period starting June 17 next week.
Between June 17 and June 28, public works staff will use their equipment to pick up large unwanted items from the curbside in front of your house.
The city says you should separate your trash like this:
• Wood products: place them in a separate pile.
• Unwanted furniture: beds, mattresses and so on should be placed in a separate pile.
• Scrap metal: unwanted household appliances and other metal items should be placed in a separate pile.
And the city says that you should not try to dispose of certain hazardous items.
Do not put the following items out for collection:
• Paint and thinners.
• Solvents
• Household cleaning fluids.
• Car and truck batteries.
Also, the city will not pick up derelict cars, trucks and machinery.
Residents should also make sure they don’t put children’s bicycles, toys or other valuable items near their garbage.
The pick-up schedule runs as follows:
Mondays: June 17 and June 24 — 100s, 200s, 300s, 400s, 500s, 1600s.
Tuesdays: June 18, June 25 — 600s, 700s, 800s, 900s, 1000s, 1300s and 1400s.
Wednesdays: June 19, June 26 — 2200s, 2400s, 2500s, 2600s and 2700s.
Thursdays: June 20, June 27 — 4000s, 4100s, 5000s, 5100s.
Fridays: June 21, June 28 — Apex
