The Arctic has a new online source for news.
Sermitsiaq AG, Greenland’s leading newspaper, has launched the Arctic Journal.
Its goal: to provide news and information about the Arctic “at a time when Arctic issues have become increasingly important politically and commercially,” said a news release on the launch.
“Our goal is to use the Arctic Journal to ensure that Greenland is at the forefront as a source of news that affects us and the world. In short, this is regional news with a global perspective,” said Sermitsiaq AG editor-in-chief Poul Krarup.
The Arctic Journal plans to offer original articles and analysis from the Arctic and draw on other media reports “to give a complete picture of news from around the Arctic.”
The Arctic Journal will be written in English by native English speakers to ensure that it reaches the widest possible audience, the news release said.
The Arctic Journal will also feature opinion and commentary from businesspeople, legislators, non-governmental organizations, scientists and others.
The Arctic Journal received financial support from the Greenlandic business investment fund, Grønlandsbankens Erhvervsfond.
