IBC announces its new season on APTN

Inuit Broadcasting Corporation announced today the details of its regular weekly series broadcast on APTN, which includes two new series this year, Qanurli? and Ilinniq.

Qanurli? (What Now?), a program with a focus on youth issues and comedy segments, features Inuk Qablunaaq and Nipangi Suittuq as its two main characters.

Ilinniq targets the older audience, IBC said, with its profiles of people from around Nunavut, including elders, politicians and volunteers, such as Ollie Ittinuar, James Eetoolook, and Natsiq Kango.

IBC’s longtime favourite, Takuginai, continues to target its young audience of children five to seven year olds, “but is enjoyed by all ages,” IBC said.

The half-hour program teaches Inuit values and plays a major role in promoting the Inuit language, “as does all IBC programming,” its Sept. 8 news release said.

Niqitsiat , a cooking show, hosted by Rebecca Veevee, features the preparation and cooking of Inuit traditional foods.

Each series of 13 episodes was produced by IBC regional centres in in Iqaluit, Ottawa, Rankin Inlet, Igloolik and Taloyoak.

Qanuq Isumavit, the popular live call-in show, will return in January 2012, IBC said.

Qanurli? airs Friday at 8:00 p.m. ET, Thursday on the NORTH feed only

Takuginai Inuktitut runs Tues. and Sat. at 9:30 a.m. ET on the North feed
Takuginai IX – XI Inuktitut runs Mon. to Sun. 8:00 a.m. CT on the North feed
Takuginai IX – XI Inuktitut runs Tues. and Fri. at 7:30 a.m. ET & MT on East and West feeds
