Inuit-owned retailer says Nutrition North works well

Stanton Group Ltd. is a wholesale and retail food distribution company based in Inuvik, Northwest Territories that is fully owned by the Inuvaluit Development Corp.

As an Inuit-owned business, one of our priorities is ensuring that customers in the western Arctic communities that we serve have access to fresh, nutritious foods.

That is why we partnered with the Nutrition North Canada program, which allows northerners to buy healthy products at more affordable prices.

Stanton meets the stringent eligibility criteria of the NNC program and provides detailed reports to demonstrate that the food subsidies are in fact passed on to our customers.

In the first year of the NNC program, we have seen savings of up to 35 per cent on perishable foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables, milk, meat and eggs: savings that have been passed on to northern residents.

In our experience, the NNC program is working well.
