Inuit org official rapped for drinking-driving conviction
QIA suspends VP George Echalook for 90 days
George Echalook, the vice president of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association, is suspended from his position for 90 days following his conviction on a drinking and driving charge, the organization said Nov. 21 in a news release.
During the suspension, Joe Attagutaluk, QIA’s secretary-treasurer, will serve as acting vice president.
Echalook was last re-elected to the position during a vote held Dec. 13, 2010.
