Iqaluit hospital medical clinics on the move this week
Clinics to re-open Dec. 17 in new hospital
The Qikiqtani General Hospital medical clinic in the old section of the hospital will close this Thursday and Friday, Dec. 13 and 14, and reopen Monday, Dec. 17 on the second floor of the new side of the hospital, a news release from the Government of Nunavut’s health and social services department said.
The rapid access clinic, which allows patients to be seen on a first-come, first served basis, will also close, but a day earlier: Wednesday, Dec. 12.
It will reopen in the emergency department of the new side of the hospital on Thursday, Dec. 13.
This comes as part of the Government of Nunavut’s plan to move medical services to accommodate the renovation of the old section and work on the new section of the QGH.
The regular appointment medical clinic takes over a space where public health and family practice had been located until its recent move to building 1091 “the Baron Building,” on the airport road.
However, patients can make clinic appointments in the new section also, next to the emergency registration desks near the main entrance.
All phone numbers for appointments and registration will remain the same until further notice, the release said.
