Iqaluit RCMP seek help from public to identify man alleged to be involved in assault

Police want to know the identity of a man caught on video during Jan. 27 incident at Hotel Arctic

The Iqaluit RCMP detachment is asking for help from the public to identify a man alleged to be involved in “an unprovoked assault” at the Hotel Arctic in Iqaluit at about 10:40 p.m. on Jan. 27. (See image below.)

Police are looking a man dressed in dark clothing and a red ball cap.

The hotel surveillance camera system caught the assault on video, but one of the men shown on the video has not yet been identified.

Police are looking for help from the public to identify the man, and, for this reason, have distributed an image taken from video surveillance of the incident.

After the assault, the man appeared to be headed into the Hotel Arctic.

Police say the man may have remained there for the evening.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact their local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477 (TIPS).
