If you like appetizers, dessert, and good entertainment, come to the YWCA Agvvik Nunavut’s second annual Ulluriaq Soirée gala May 18 at 7 p.m. at the Frobisher Inn in Iqaluit.

The event, open to those over age 19, raises money for the Qimaavik Women’s Shelter and Sivumut House in Iqaluit.

“We really hope people come out and support the women’s shelters, these shelters are always over capacity and we really support women and children of Nunavut,” the Agvvik Society’s Sheila Levy said.

“We never get the amount of funds we need, so we always have to do fundraisers to help make ends meet,” she said.

The fundraiser gala will include music from Koel and the Twin Otters and Terrie Kusugak, as well as prizes, raffles, and a silent auction.

Prize balloons will be sold for $20 each, with each balloon having a prize attached to it, such a round-trip airline tickets to Ottawa or a night for two at the Southway Inn.

“It’s just a fun night,” Levy said, of the event.

“Last year was very successful, so we are continuing with it,” she said.

Tickets can be purchased from Levy at 867 979-4295.
